Saint Albans C&O Modelers Exclusive Accurail Limited Edition Chesapeake and Ohio PS-1 Boxcar
This is a special blog regarding the HO PS-1 Boxcar commissioned by Saint Albans C&O Modelers of Saint Albans WV.
The boxcar was produced by Accurail and represents a design of delivery paint scheme never before correctly offered in HO on a PS-1 model.
In the early 1950’s, the C&O received 1500 PS-1 boxcars numbered 16,000-16,999 & 17,000-17499. These cars featured a new paint scheme designed to personify the C&O’s focus on modernization. This order of cars was delivered with the early C&O for Progress herald and the new modernistic 'Futura' lettering, but this time it was in yellow. At the time of their delivery, these cars made up approximately 10% of the C&O’s entire boxcar fleet. The cars debuted in the early 1950's (build date of 1950 on these models) and lasted in their original form into what's believed the early 1960's. Traveled nationwide as any other car in whatever service they were laded for.
These are quality and easy to assemble kits which replicate a fine and unique car. A transition era essential if I do say so myself.
The board members of SACOM are close personal friends of mine and I volunteered to advertise the cars on the CRM website with no company return.
